Privacy policy

Effective September 24, 2026

The short version. Breeze Checkout adds upsells, banners, trust elements and surveys to your Shopify checkout, thank-you and order status pages.

To do that we store your store's details and settings, plus anonymous counts of how shoppers interact with those widgets.

We don't store shoppers' names, emails, addresses or payment details, we never sell data, and we delete your store's data after you uninstall.

Who we are

Breeze Checkout (“the app”, “we”, “us”) is a Shopify app published by Crown Apps. It lets merchants add checkout upsells, post-purchase offers, content blocks and customer surveys to Shopify checkout, thank-you and order status pages.

This policy explains what information the app collects when a merchant installs it, how that information is used, and how it is deleted. For information we process on a merchant's behalf about their shoppers, the merchant is the data controller and we act as their processor.

What we collect

From merchants who install the app

  • Store details from the Shopify Admin API: store name, myshopify domain and primary domain, store email and contact email, billing address and phone number, Shopify plan type, currency, timezone and tax settings.
  • Access credentials: the access tokens Shopify issues when you install the app, so the app can act on your store within the permissions you approved.
  • App configuration: the upsells, offers, banners, content blocks, surveys and settings you create in the app.
  • Billing records: your plan, Shopify charge ID, subscription status and trial dates. Payments are processed entirely by Shopify; we never see your card or bank details.
  • Store data the app reads: product, variant, price and inventory information needed to show upsell offers, and order information needed to measure results (see below).
  • Support conversations: if you use the chat widget inside the app, the messages and contact details you choose to share.

About your store's shoppers

When a shopper sees one of the app's widgets, the app records limited technical data so it can report on performance:

  • A random visitor identifier generated by the app, not linked to the shopper's identity.
  • The cart or checkout token Shopify assigns to the session.
  • Which widget was viewed or clicked, whether an offer was added to the cart, and the offer's value.
  • When an order is placed, its order ID and total, used only to attribute sales to widgets. Order results are rolled into daily totals per widget.
  • Answers to post-purchase surveys you create, linked to the order ID.

What we don't collect

The app does not store shoppers' names, email addresses, phone numbers, shipping or billing addresses, or payment details. It does not use cookies for advertising or cross-site tracking, and it does not build profiles of individual shoppers.

Survey answers contain whatever a shopper types. If you ask survey questions that invite personal information, you are responsible for having a lawful basis to collect it.

How we use it

  • To provide the app: display your offers and content at checkout, save your settings and apply your plan's features.
  • To show you analytics: views, clicks, add-to-carts, conversions and revenue attributed to each widget.
  • To manage your subscription through Shopify Billing.
  • To provide support and tell you about important changes to the app.
  • To keep the app secure, debug problems and meet legal obligations.

We do not sell personal information, share it for advertising, or use it to train machine-learning models.

Service providers

We share information only with the providers we need to run the app, each bound by its own data-protection terms:

ProviderWhat it does for us
ShopifyPlatform the app runs on; source of store data; billing.
RailwayHosts the app's servers.
MongoDB AtlasHosts the app's database.
tawk.toIn-app support chat for merchants.

We may also disclose information if required by law, or to a successor if the app is sold or transferred, in which case this policy continues to apply.

Retention and deletion

DataKept until
Store details, access tokens, settings, offers and billing recordsYou uninstall the app and Shopify sends its store data deletion request, 48 hours after uninstall. We then delete it.
Shopper interaction recordsMatched to an order (then deleted and kept only as daily totals), or deleted with your store's data.
Daily analytics totals and survey answersDeleted with your store's data.
Support chat historyKept by tawk.to under its retention policy. Ask us and we'll delete it.

Backups held by our database provider are overwritten on their normal schedule after deletion.

Security

  • All traffic to and from the app uses HTTPS.
  • Requests from the Shopify admin are authenticated with Shopify session tokens, and every Shopify webhook is verified with an HMAC signature before it is processed.
  • Our database provider encrypts stored data at rest, and access to production systems is limited to the people who maintain the app.

No system is perfectly secure. If we become aware of a breach affecting your data, we will notify you without undue delay.

Your rights

Merchants can ask us at any time to access, correct, export or delete the information we hold about their store. Uninstalling the app also triggers full deletion as described above.

Shoppers should contact the store they bought from. When a shopper asks a store to see or delete their data, Shopify forwards the request to us and we respond to it. Because we don't store shoppers' names or contact details, there is usually nothing in our systems that identifies them.

Depending on where you live, laws such as the GDPR, UK GDPR or California's CCPA may give you further rights, including the right to object to processing or to complain to your local data-protection authority.

International transfers

Our service providers may process data in countries other than yours, including the United States. Where required, we rely on the safeguards those providers offer, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

Children

The app is built for businesses and is not directed at children. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.

Changes

We may update this policy as the app changes. We'll update the effective date above and, for material changes, notify merchants inside the app or by email before they take effect.
